Bathroom-AZ and Tiling-AZ are the same one-person business, working out of Broadheath in Altrincham. When you call, you speak to the tradesman. When the van turns up, it's the same tradesman. And when the last cut tile goes in, it's still him. For a job that takes over the only bathroom in the house, that continuity is the whole point.
The work splits two ways. Full bathrooms — wetrooms, shower rooms, family bathrooms — taken from a stripped shell right through to a finished, sealed, working room. And tiling on its own, for walls, floors, fireplaces and chimney breasts, in whatever format and bond the room asks for. Over ten years' experience and, in their own words, fully qualified.
The same person, start to finish
Strip-out, first-fix plumbing, boarding, tanking, tiling, second fix, silicone. One trade doing all of it means nothing gets lost in the handover between a plumber, a tiler and an electrician who have never met.
Set out before a single tile is fixed
Every wall and floor is set out dry first — centre lines found, cuts balanced, bond chosen — so you never end up with a five-millimetre slither of tile in the most visible corner of the room. It is the step that separates a tiled room from a well-tiled room.
A quote after a look, not over the phone
Pipe runs, floor build-up, what is actually behind the plasterboard — none of that is visible from a photo. We come and look, then price the job properly, so the number you get at the start is the number you pay at the end.

The part most people never get told

Choosing a tile is the easy bit. How it gets set out is what you actually end up looking at every morning — and some tiles will only work in some patterns. Here are six of the bonds we lay most; the full guide walks through all of them, plus how much extra to order for each.
Straight stack bond
Grid · straight set
Every tile sits directly above and beside its neighbour, so the grout lines run in continuous straight lines both ways.
Vertical stack bond
Stacked · column set
Rectangular tiles stood on end and stacked in columns rather than laid on their long edge.
Brick bond
Running bond · half-brick · offset
Each row is offset from the one below, traditionally by half a tile.
Third bond
One-third offset
The same idea as brick bond but offset by a third rather than a half.
Diagonal
Diamond set
Square tiles turned through 45 degrees.

Rectangular tiles laid in interlocking Ls, running square to the walls.
How a fit runs
Four stages, in the order they actually happen.
01
A look at the room
We come out, measure, and check the things that decide what's possible — where the soil pipe runs, how much floor build-up there is for underfloor heating, whether the walls are anywhere near true. Then you get a written price for the whole job.
02
Strip-out and first fix
Old suite out, waste carried away, and the pipework reworked from floor to wall for the radiator, WC, basin and shower. Anything that has to disappear behind a tile gets done and tested now, while it's still easy to reach.
03
Boards, tanking and setting out
Walls boarded and floors levelled, wet areas tanked, underfloor heating laid and tested if it's going in. Then the room is set out dry — centre lines, bond, cuts — before any adhesive is mixed.
04
Tiling, second fix and hand-over
Tiles fixed, grouted and the internal corners siliconed rather than grouted so they can move. Suite, taps and screen fitted, everything run and checked, floor cleaned and the room handed back working.

Based in Broadheath, so most of the work is within a short drive: Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale, Halebarns, Timperley, Sale, Cheadle and Didsbury, and out to Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Knutsford and Lymm. If you're just outside that, ring and ask — it's usually a yes.
